Adult Care Worker Apprentice (S2503-04)
Principal Duties:
1. Learn how to assist and enable clients to achieve daily living activities, which could include but is not exhaustive:
Maintaining personal hygiene and appearance Ensuring intake of drinks, fluids and food is documented accurately and when necessary, assist in feeding and drinking and making dietary decisions Achieving optimum mobility and physical comfort using all available equipment and manual handling techniques where appropriate Maintaining privacy and dignity Maintaining independence and identity Prevention of pressure area damage through good nursing care Contributing to effective palliative care Maintaining tidiness and cleanliness within the physical environment2. Learn how to undertake tasks as detailed and prescribed in a service user’s care/support plan.
3. Develop skills in using innovative methods to support and encourage service users to participate in meaningful activities, new experiences and opportunities which will meet their individual needs (physical, emotional, social and spiritual) and promote good health.
4. Learn how to be responsible for providing physical and personal care to service users taking into account their basic and acute emotional needs.
5. Learn how to keep accurate, daily records as required (both electronically and manually).
6. Learn how care providers work in cooperation with members of multi-disciplinary health teams in order to maximise opportunities for service user therapeutic care.
7. Learn how to provide effective social care support to the people of Rochdale in line with the Care Act including:
Developing a relationship with individuals and their families/circles of support Using a range of personalised and person-centred approaches to understand what people need Developing a support plan and carrying out a personalised review Exploring flexible and creative support opportunities within the local community Developing skills in researching information to provide advice, support and guidance8. To adhere to all statutory requirements and good practices as laid down by all authorities involved.
Training:
Adult Care Worker Level 2.
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
