Group Quality Assurance Manager
We have an exciting opportunity with one of the UK's leading Main Contractors.
Due to their continued success, they are now looking to hire a Group Quality Assurance Manager to work from their Head Office in Central London.
Main Purpose:
To oversee and manage the quality function across all construction projects.
To establish and maintain quality systems, policies, and procedures that meet industry standards and ensure the delivery of high-quality construction projects compliant with relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Quality controls
Manage and implement where required systematic quality control protocols and quality management systems for all construction activities to ensure consistent quality standards across all construction projects.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of construction sites to identify and correct deviations from the set standards.
Develop and implement a continuous improvement programme to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with project management teams to ensure that projects are executed according to approved plans and budget, and within the agreed timelines.
Stay up to date with industry trends and changes in legislation that may impact the quality function.
Monitor performance of subcontractors in actioning reported defects
Contribute to the customer scoring programme
Data analysis and reporting
Monitor quality metrics such as defects, rework, and customer complaints to identify and address areas of improvement.
Coordinate site-specific Non-Conformance Reporting process, trend analysis and statistics.
Investigate root causes of quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
Stakeholder Engagement
Develop and maintain relationships with project teams, clients, contractors to ensure that quality expectations are met.
Develop and implement a quality development programme for site teams to ensure that they are aware of their roles and responsibilities regarding quality.
Deliver regular lessons learnt open forum and issue relevant lessons learnt alerts to site teams.
Engage with HSQE
Design
Ensure quality policy has due regard of the Employers Requirements and design documentation.
Quality team to input into the project handover documents, including the health and safety file, and operation and maintenance documents to ensure all relevant quality documentation is included.
Where relevant to assist with closing out BREEAM conditions which relate to quality.
Where relevant to assist with closing out warranty or insurance conditions which relate to quality (e.g.
NHBC).
Ensure procedures collaborate with the Design Management team to review samples, mock-ups and prototypes to ensure quality on site is reflective of signed off submissions.
Ensure procedures collaborate with the Design Management team and Construction team to review and audit benchmarking elements and ensure QA processes are updated as necessary.
Customer Care
Engage with the customer care team to ensure a smooth handover from project team to customer care team.
Team Management
Provide leadership and guidance to the quality team, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and support to carry out their roles effectively.
Develop and implement a quality development programme for the QA team.
Qualifications / Training:
Required
NVQ Level 7 in Construction Management or a construction related degree
SMSTS
Fieldview training
MS Office and Sharepoint
CSCS black card (management level)
Internal and external audit training combined with on-site, technical auditing experience
Good knowledge and practical experience of developing, implementing, maintaining and improving Quality Management Systems to the standard BS EN ISO 9001: 2015
CQI membership
In-depth knowledge of construction industry standards, practices, and regulations.
Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to develop and implement quality control protocols.
Ability to cope effectively with complexity and change.
Ability to effectively plan, organise, delegate and control the work process.
Desirable
First Aid at Work
IRCA or CQI chartership
Knowledge of other Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015, ISO 27001:2013, OHSAS 18001:2007, ISO 44001:2017 etc.)
Knowledge of MS Projects or ASTA
Certifications or training in quality control and management, such as Six Sigma or Total Quality Management
