Role Overview - Band 5 Substance Misuse Nurse (HMP Highdown):In this phenomenal role, you will offer exceptional clinical assessment and treatment to prisoners with substance dependence, collaborating closely with HM Prison Service and other involved stakeholders.
Your responsibility will encompass delivering and overseeing elevated nursing care standards and pertinent substance misuse interventions for all service users, in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the NMC Code of Conduct. Responsibilities – Band 5 Substance Misuse Nurse (HMP Highdown):
Deliver elevated nursing care standards by conducting continuous clinical assessment, planning, implementation, and treatment evaluation for individuals dealing with substance misuse.Engage in inter-professional and multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure seamless care continuity.Contribute to the refinement, implementation, and assessment of clinical and psychosocial service delivery.Prudently manage high-risk areas and perform thorough risk assessments.Promote the health and well-being of patients, effectively addressing their intricate needs to sustain their optimal physical and psychological well-being.Regularly review and uphold care plans and needs assessments.Integrate the principles of the 6 'C's (Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Courage, Commitment) into your clinical practice.Administer prescribed medication after patient assessment.Assume accountability and responsibility for risk management and the appropriate withholding of medication, adhering to correct reporting procedures.Take part in the medication audit process, ensuring the implementation of recommended actions.
Requirements:
Appropriate experience suitable for a recently qualified nurse.Familiarity with secure storage and proper administration of medication.Knowledge and capability to adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct.Skill in assessing, planning, executing, and evaluating patient care, with the capacity to respond effectively to concerns.Competence and understanding in conducting risk assessments and management.Proficiency in maintaining precise patient records, meeting local, Forward Trust, and NMC standards.Recognition of distinct roles within a multidisciplinary team and adeptness in collaborative work.Ability to offer and receive feedback, support, and clinical supervision.Awareness of health issues associated with Substance Misuse.Current Registered General Nurse, Mental Health Nurse or Learning Disability Nurse.
