General Farmworker Apprentice

Duties to include but are not limited to:

Livestock Handling and husbandry (Dairy Cows & Young Stock) Milking Cows Grassland Management – Grazing, Silage Crop Production – Potatoes, Cauliflower, Cereals, Maize. Tractor Driving General Farm work and Maintenance Maintaining machinery, property, hedges and fences Planting & Harvesting Potatoes & Cauliflower Growing & Harvesting Maize & Cereals

Training:

You will be working towards a Level 2 General Farm Worker Apprenticeship standard. Includes the following qualifications;

Award in Emergency First Aid at Work, which is a minimum of 1-day course (Ofqual regulated)


City & Guilds Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides Guidance or Lantra Safe use of Pesticides’


You will receive on and off the job training and support from an assessor and apprenticeship advisor.

As part of the apprenticeship training you will be required to attend Duchy College Rosewarne every Wednesday (during term times).



Training Outcome:

On successful completion of the apprenticeship you may wish to:

Progress to a Level 3 Apprenticeship, such as Livestock Unit Technician, or Crop Technician Fulltime role with the company

Farming in West Cornwall in an area of outstanding beauty - Prussia Cove, Praa Sands and Rinsey. Mixed Farm, Traditional Family Farm 150 Holstein Dairy Herd (Supplying milk for the production of Cathedral City Cheese) Salad Potato Production (growing Anya potatoes to supply Sainsburys). Growing Cauliflower, supplying all the major supermarkets.

Working Hours :
Shifts to be arranged but scheduled between Sunday to Monday 8am to 5pm
