Electrical Apprentice (Commissioning engineer)

1. Health, Safety & Compliance

Work in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including BS7671 Wiring Regulations and building code Follow best practices and risk assessments on-site (Duty 1)

2. Installation & Maintenance

Assist in installing and testing electrical systems across various         voltages (A C / D C), single-phase, and three-phase systems) (Duty    2) Support routine maintenance and fault-finding on existing smart lighting systems (Duty 3) Install both wired and wireless smart lighting systems tailored to client requirements (Duty 4)

3. Smart & Sustainable Technologies

Learn to install and support special systems such as EV chargers,    battery storage, PV panels, and backup generators (Duty 5) Get involved with energy-efficient lighting and IoT-enabled controls   (Duty 11)

4. Specialist Installations

Contribute to life safety systems and smart heating/cooling system wiring (Duties 6 & 7) Run and install cable infrastructure with attention to fire safety and compartment integrity (Duty 8) Assist in projects involving historic buildings or specialist settings  (Duty 9)

5. Communication & Documentation

Liaise effectively with team members, clients, and subcontractors while respecting data confidentiality (Duty 10) Complete documentation including installation certificates, test reports, and commissioning notes (Duty 13)

6. Project Workflow & Worksite Management

Help prepare tools and materials, clean and restore work areas after job completion (Duty 12) Support in planning workflows and managing daily tasks to ensure efficiency (Duty 14)

7. Skills Development

Continuously improve your workshop and on-site skills, using a range of tools and technology to meet modern standards (Duty 15)

Training:

The training will be a mix of practical learning and theory covering things like:

Health and Safety legislation Environmental legislation Practices and procedures for overseeing and organising the work environment Cable termination Inspection and testing Fault finding Electrical principles Candidates will be required to achieve the Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification, (Installation) or (Maintenance).

Training Outcome:

After the successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will start on level 1 of our grading system.  Based on your hard work, there is the opportunity to advance up 6 levels and thereafter become a Team Leader.
