Apprentice Teaching Assistant at Brackenhill Primary School

Prime Objectives of the Post:

To undertake work/care/support programmes to enable access to learning for pupils Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area

Range of duties:

Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes

Training:
Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English if required Weekly day release at Shipley College

Training Outcome:
As well as ensuring full competency as a Teaching Assistant, this standard provides a foundation for potential progression into a number of career paths in the educational sector, including Teaching Assistant, Cover, Supervisor, Higher Level Teaching Assistant and Teacher

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday with a day release to college on a Thursday. Please discuss the working week at interview.
