About the role: 

Our mission is to protect consumers from rogue traders and unsafe products while supporting businesses to comply with the law. As an Assistant Trading Standards Officer, you will:

Advise businesses on legal compliance Investigate complaints and sample consumer goods Visit business premises such as shops, restaurants, warehouses, and farms Disrupt rogue traders and compile reports for criminal prosecution This role is challenging yet incredibly rewarding, offering a variety of tasks that keep every day interesting

About you: 

Essential:

We need someone with enthusiasm, a commitment to learning, and excellent communication and organisational skills. You should be a team player who can also work independently and manage difficult situations.

Educational Requirements: Level 2 English and maths (or equivalent) needed prior to End-Point Assessment. Must be 16 years or over and a UK resident for at least three years.

Hold a full UK driving licence.

Training:

The Level 6 Trading Standards Professional apprenticeship programme is delivered via a series of online workshops.



Training Outcome:

Secondment - This position is open to secondments. If you work for HCC or any other Local Authority and would like to be considered as a Secondment contract, please ensure you complete the Secondment Form as part of your application. If you do not, your application will be considered as a Fixed Term Contract only.
