Apprentice Care Co-ordinator
To provide general assistance in a busy NHS GP practice in Dawlish. You will assist patients in a professional and courteous manner whilst undertaking a variety of administrative duties.
The duties and responsibilities of this role may be subject to change depending on the needs of the practice, but include:
• Opening up/locking-up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols
• Processing requests for appointments, domiciliary visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
• Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail
• Taking messages and passing on information
• Filing and retrieving paperwork
• Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
• Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
• Processing registration and de-registration of patients
• Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
• Clearing and re-stock consulting rooms as required
• Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
• Ordering, re-ordering and monitoring of stationery and other supplies
• Dealing with waste to agreed protocols
Training:
Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration, including Functional Skills in English and maths if required.
Training Outcome:
Applications for a full time position within the surgery.

The Barton Surgery is the only GP practice in Dawlish and is situated in the upper part of the main car park in the town, adjacent to Dawlish Community Hospital. We have 14,700 patients, mainly resident in Dawlish and Dawlish Warren, and the practice also looks after as many as 3,500 holiday makers who come to the area each year.
Working Hours :
Monday-Friday. Occasional weekend working.
