Aircraft Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship

Join an exciting aviation engineering environment dedicated to supporting helicopter emergency services. On this programme, you'll train to become a fully licenced engineer, responsible for the airworthiness of critical air ambulances that help the public when they’re most in need. During the first year, you'll embark on a 9-month residential course at Kemble Airfield, Gloucestershire, studying towards CAA Part 66 CAT A Modules. This will include both theoretical and practical training. The remaining time will be spent at our facility at Gloucestershire Airport. You'll be involved in a variety of tasks, including maintenance inspections, component changes, engine module reassemblies, sheet metal work, and avionics maintenance and repairs. Additionally, you'll handle administration tasks associated with aircraft maintenance.

Training:

In addition to on-the-job experience, you’ll receive formal training both at Kemble Airfield and Babcock’s onshore facilities. You’ll work towards completing the CAA Part 66 CAT A Modules through LRTT, laying the foundation for a career as a licenced rotary-wing aircraft engineer.

Training Outcome:

Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, you’ll be eligible to apply for your CAA B Licence, qualifying you as a fully licenced engineer on rotary-wing aircraft. You may also have the opportunity to undertake higher-level qualifications to further your career within Babcock across a variety of roles and functions.
