Laser Systems Engineer

A global provider of precision laser micromachining solutions, delivered as both production equipment and sub-contract laser processing services, are seeking a Laser Systems Engineer to join their team in Oxford

You will own the optical aspects of projects, from working with our team of designers on the optical layout of machines, through optical alignment and process optimization, into delivery and support of systems in the field.

You will be expected to take a lead in general machine commissioning and work with the software and other teams to deliver reliable, turnkey machines.

The role involves occasional out-of-hours working and global travel.

Key Responsibilities for the Laser Systems Engineer, Oxford:


Optical systems design, alignment and commissioning
Be involved in installation & commissioning of bespoke laser machines
Supporting machines remotely and on customer sites
Apply a logical fault finding methodology
Work with other functional teams such as Software, Electrical and Mechanical
Take laser processes from proof of principle to turnkey solutions
Develop machine ‘Recipes’ involving laser process, motion control, vision systems etc


Essential for the Laser Systems Engineer :


BSc in a relevant discipline – Engineering or Physics
Laser micro-machining knowledge
Hands on laser setup
Materials science knowledge & experience
Good knowledge of laser hardware and optics
Good communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
