Patent & Trade Mark Practice Director
We are looking to recruit a Practice Director for this growing firm of Patent and Trademark Attorneys with a turnover in excess of £20m pa.
The successful candidate will be the most senior manager in the firm and report directly to the partnership.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a proven track record of initiating and implementing transformative projects within a professional services firm to support future growth.
Experience within a legal setting is not required but is considered a plus.
The successful candidate will assist the partnership in various operational aspects of running the firm.
These will include:
Organising and participating in partners’ meetings and following up on action points to ensure their completion;
Establishing realistic budgets, timelines and milestones for ongoing and future projects;
Commuicating with various stakeholders within the firm, including fee earners and the managers of Records, IT, HR and Finance, and supporting them in the implementation of scheduled projects;
Maintaining an overview of operations, identifying shortcomings in current workflows and processes, and suggesting improvements; and
Monitoring compliance with government legislation and interacting with regulatory bodies as required, e.g., Companies House, IPReg.
These will require a significant involvement in varied operational activities, such as:
Coordinating the transition to a new case management system and its integration into existing workflows;
Managing the required training for all fee earners and staff in liaison with the HR Manager;
Contributing to business development activities including the coordination of submissions to, e.g., Legal 500; and coordinating the planned relocation of the London offices.
The successful candidate will develop an in-depth knowledge of the firm’s operations and prioritise activities to ensure the smooth running of the firm.
As part of the role and in collaboration with the partnership, the candidate is also expected to develop a strategic vision for the future of the firm.
Intellectual curiosity, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to challenge preconceived notions are prerequisites for the role.
The successful candidate may be based in either London or Sevenoaks.
Our Records, IT, HR and Finance teams are based in Sevenoaks.
Regular travel between the offices will be required.
Renumeration will be dependent on experience and will include private healthcare and pension contributions.
