Legal Biller

An international law firm is looking for an experienced Legal Biller to join its London finance team. The firm acts for clients on complex, high-value disputes and transactions, and its partners work for a demanding international client base where accurate, timely billing matters to everyone. The London office is around 90 people, so you will know the partners and fee earners you work with by name, and your work will be visible and valued. This is a role for a biller who takes pride in getting invoices out right first time, and who is happy to own the process from pro forma to payment.

The Role

Working closely with partners, fee earners and the wider finance team, you will run the London billing cycle end to end.

Prepare and issue pro forma and final bills for partners and fee earnersReview time entries and disbursements against client billing guidelines and engagement termsSubmit invoices through client e-billing portals, including LEDES format, and resolve any rejectionsMonitor work in progress and unbilled time, and prompt fee earners to bill on scheduleAllocate client receipts and keep matter balances and client ledgers accurateChase outstanding invoices with fee earners and clients, and report on aged debtSupport month-end with billing and WIP reporting for the finance teamCover accounts payable and other transactional tasks during holidays

Who we want to hear from

Proven experience as a legal biller in a law firm, ideally an international firmWorking knowledge of a legal practice management system such as Elite 3E, Aderant or similarExperience of client e-billing portals and detailed billing guidelinesAn understanding of the SRA Accounts Rules as they apply to billing and client moneyAccuracy and a calm, organised approach at month-endThe confidence to work with partners and push back when a bill is not ready to go
