Job Overview
As a Senior CloudStack Engineer, you will take significant responsibility for deploying, managing, troubleshooting and improving cloud and compute infrastructure.

The Senior CloudStack Engineer position is aimed at someone with around 3 to 6 years of experience across cloud infrastructure, Linux, networking, virtualisation or platform engineering.

You will work across Apache CloudStack or similar private cloud technologies, Linux, KVM, networking, storage and compute infrastructure. Strong CloudStack experience would be particularly valuable, although experienced engineers coming from OpenStack or comparable private cloud environments are also encouraged to apply.

As a Senior CloudStack Engineer, you will be expected to operate with greater independence, taking ownership of complex technical problems and contributing to decisions around infrastructure architecture, reliability, automation, performance and scalability.

Deploying, configuring and managing Apache CloudStack infrastructureTaking ownership of cloud infrastructure reliability, availability and performanceManaging compute, virtual machines, storage and networking across the environmentManaging and troubleshooting Linux and KVM virtualisation environmentsDiagnosing complex issues across CloudStack, networking, storage, compute and physical infrastructureSupporting the deployment and expansion of data centre and compute capacityInvestigating infrastructure incidents, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutionsSupporting infrastructure upgrades, migrations and configuration changesImproving infrastructure monitoring, resilience and operational processesDeveloping or improving automation for repetitive infrastructure tasksContributing to infrastructure architecture and scalability decisionsCreating and maintaining clear technical documentationSupporting less experienced engineers and sharing technical knowledgeWorking closely with senior technology leadership on infrastructure priorities
Here are the skills you'll need:
Around 3 to 6 years of experience within cloud infrastructure, systems, platform engineering or a related technical environmentStrong experience with Apache CloudStack, OpenStack or comparable private cloud technologiesStrong Linux administration and troubleshooting skillsGood knowledge of KVM or similar hypervisor technologiesStrong understanding of compute, storage, virtualisation and cloud infrastructureGood understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs and wider networking principlesExperience supporting production or business-critical infrastructureAbility to diagnose complex infrastructure problems and take ownership through to resolutionExperience with infrastructure automation, scripting or Infrastructure as Code would be advantageousUnderstanding of infrastructure monitoring, resilience, reliability and performanceStrong analytical and technical problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate complex technical issues clearlyExperience supporting or mentoring less experienced engineers would be beneficialAn interest in AI infrastructure, data centres and high-performance computing
