Engineering Maintenance Technicians are responsible for maintaining plant and equipment to optimise operation. This involves carrying out planned and preventative maintenance to prevent issues occurring and reactive maintenance when problems occur, for example, responding to breakdowns.

Technicians must prepare for and accept jobs, complete work safely to required standards, close the job, and complete accurate work records. They also contribute to continuous improvement activities. Depending on the task, work may be completed as part of a team or independently.

Training:

Engineering Maintenance Technician - dual discipline - Level 3.

City of Bristol College and WH Scott Bristol branch, based in Wickwar. It is 4 days at work and one day per on college. 

Training Outcome:

Many Level 3 Apprentices progress to higher technical courses (HNC or degree), or to higher-level apprenticeships.

Others secure positions such as installation and commissioning technicians.
