Blind Manufacturing and Production Apprentice

Complete induction, health and safety training and learn safe workshop working practices Learn the factory layout, product ranges, components, materials and production workflow Assist experienced team members with preparation, assembly and finishing of made-to-measure blinds Learn to read production paperwork and understand measurements, specifications and customer requirements Develop accurate measuring, marking and basic hand-tool skills Carry out supervised quality checks and learn how defects are identified before products leave the factory Maintain an organised, clean and safe working area and correctly store materials and components Begin manufacturing simpler products and completing defined production tasks with reduced supervision Develop competence using appropriate workshop tools and machinery following training and authorisation Learn cutting, preparation, assembly and finishing processes for different blind systems Improve speed and efficiency while maintaining accuracy and product quality Understand stock, component usage, waste reduction and lean manufacturing principles Take greater responsibility for checking own work against production specifications Manufacture a broader range of made-to-measure blind products with increasing independence Set up and use relevant machinery safely and correctly for trained production processes Plan and organise own workload within the production schedule Identify common manufacturing problems and take corrective action or escalate issues Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve workflow Work across different production areas to develop a rounded understanding of factory operations Support quality control and ensure completed products are ready for fitting or collection Work towards independently manufacturing products from production specification through to completed quality-checked item Develop competence across additional and more complex product ranges Take ownership of quality, accuracy and productivity for allocated work Support newer team members with basic processes as competence develops Gain wider exposure to how measuring, sales, manufacturing and installation link together

Employer Description:

FRO.blinds is a family-run curtain and blind specialist based in Wellington. We opened our Market Street showroom in November 2021, supported by a £7,000 grant from the Pride in the High Street scheme from Telford & Wrekin Council.

What started as a made-to-measure blinds business quickly grew into something broader. As customers began to trust us with more of their homes, we expanded into curtains, roman blinds, shutters and soft furnishings.

Working Hours :
