Development Accountant
Job Title: Development Accountant Work Pattern: 37 hours per week Type: Permanent Location: Middlesbrough TS2 Salary: £38,162 per annumPurpose of the role – As a Development Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the organisation's new home Development financial appraisal and accounting team.
You will contribute to the delivery of the suite of investment appraisal mechanisms, support the identification and management of risks associated with development, and provide accurate financial information for reporting purposes.
Additionally, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of reports to Board, managing the appraisal and accounting of all new home schemes, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations and standards.
Job Role –
Contribute to the delivery of the suite of investment appraisal mechanisms in support of the organisation's development, including Joint Ventures and buy-backs
Support with the identification and management of risks associated with development
Support the preparation of reports to board, its subsidiaries, and committees
Help manage the appraisal and accounting of all new home schemes up to practical completion of new homes, including working collaboratively with development colleagues
Support the accurate recording of scheme costs and the accounting for development schemes, including the transfer of costs from work in progress to completed homes associated with new build properties
Assist in the production of the annual budget and financial plan for Development
Support the production of annual statutory accounts
Support with the production of relevant management accounting information, including forecast outturns and variance analysis
Provide relevant new home data for statutory returns, including NRoSH quarterly returns
Develop and maintain finance systems and associated IT within the area of responsibility, including the Development Appraisal System
Keep up to date with changes in legislation and regulatory requirements with regard to IFRS (accounting regulation) and Housing Finance Standards, and provide advice and guidance on maintaining compliance
Candidate Requirements – Qualifications: Holds/part-qualified or working towards a recognised accounting qualification or significant demonstrable experience.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Experience in Development Accounting and development appraisals
Knowledge of Accounting Regulation and principles
Proven ability to collate, evaluate, analyse, review, report and solve complex financial matters such as compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements
Proven skill in the identification of requirements, recording and analysis of data and information, and identification of solutions
Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues across Finance and the wider business
Ability to develop and maintain appropriate systems, maximise the use of technology and to effectively use compliance software, other IT applications and media to support the service as appropriate.
