Apprentice Production Technician

Key Responsibilities:

As an Apprentice Production Technician your primary focus will be to learn and develop your technical skills whilst supporting the Production team.  You will be expected to attend a college for two days a week to gain recognised qualification as part of the apprentice programme.  

The expectation is the successful Apprentice will become a full-time employee of the company in a Production Technician role.

It would be advantageous to have means of transport to enable attendance at both the Transense facility and Abingdon and Witney College.

Under the guidance and supervision of experienced staff, your responsibilities will include:

Assembly & Electronics:- Learning and assisting in the assembly of SAW sensors and associated electronics Testing & Verification:- Performing testing and electrical verification of sensor assemblies under direct supervision Calibration Support:- Providing hands-on support for calibration and production testing as you learn the standard operating procedures Lean Manufacturing:- Gaining an understanding of and assisting the team in the implementation of a Lean Manufacturing environment Quality Control:- Helping senior staff with the inspection and acceptance of incoming product Logistics:- Assisting with the packaging and shipping of Transense Product Cross-Training:- Assisting Translogik assembly where required to broaden your manufacturing skill set Process Innovation:- Shadowing the team to support the development of new manufacturing processes Continuous Improvement:- Observing and providing support to develop and improve current manufacturing processes

Training:

Course overview:

The role covers a wide range of common and job-specific skill sets that can be transferred across the manufacturing engineering industry sectors during apprentices’ future careers. Dependent on the sector
that they are employed in, there may be subtle differences in terms of composition and application of the job role specific skills and knowledge they will require, however the core skills and knowledge will be the same regardless of the sector/area they work in.

Duration:

13-months practical training period, plus 3 months for End Point Assessment

Delivery model:

Work-based training with your employer Day release during term time (approximately 2 days a week for 1 year) Regular meetings with your training coordinator to monitor progress and well-being Apprentices will need to complete a minimum of 300 hours of off-the-job training during their apprenticeship

Qualifications included:

Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills) Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations (Knowledge) Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship

Working Hours :
Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm OR 9am - 5pm with 1-hour lunch.
