Bibi Contracts is a growing bespoke furniture manufacturing and upholstery company looking for an experienced Furniture Upholsterer to join our small, close-knit workshop team near Kimpton, Hitchin.

About the Role

This is a hands-on workshop position producing bespoke furniture for hospitality, commercial and residential clients.

You could be working on restaurant booths and banquette seating one day and bespoke sofas, chairs or other made-to-measure furniture the next.

You will work closely with our carpentry and preparation team, using drawings, measurements and specifications to produce furniture to a high standard.

We are looking for someone who can work confidently and independently while also enjoying being part of a small team.

What You'll Be Doing

Upholster bespoke sofas, chairs, booths, banquette seating and other furnitureCarry out re-upholstery and refurbishment workMeasure, cut and prepare fabric, foam and other upholstery materialsStitch and prepare components using an industrial sewing machineWork accurately from drawings, measurements and specificationsUse upholstery tools and machinery safely and effectivelyCheck completed work and maintain high-quality standardsWork closely with carpenters and other workshop colleaguesKeep your work area clean, safe and organisedWork efficiently to meet project deadlinesOccasionally assist with deliveries and installations at client sites

What We're Looking For

Previous professional furniture upholstery experienceExperience using an industrial sewing machineConfidence working independently on bespoke furnitureStrong knowledge of upholstery techniques, tools and materialsExperience working with different fabrics and foamsExcellent attention to detailPride in producing a high-quality finishThe ability to work accurately from measurements and drawingsGood communication and teamwork skillsA reliable and organised approachThe ability to safely lift and handle furniture and materialsYour own reliable transport due to the rural workshop locationWillingness to complete a practical upholstery assessment as part of the interview process

About Bibi Contracts

Bibi Contracts manufactures and upholsters bespoke furniture for hospitality, commercial and residential clients.

We are a small and friendly team, which means you won't be one person among hundreds or simply another part of a production line.

You will work closely with the wider workshop team, have visibility of the projects you are working on and see your furniture develop from initial production through to the finished piece.

As the business continues to grow, there will also be opportunities to develop your skills and take on greater responsibility.

Location & Hours

Near Kimpton, Hitchin, Hertfordshire

Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm.

40 hours per week.

Due to the rural workshop location, your own reliable transport is required.

Occasional work at client sites may also be required.
