Salary: £12.71 per hour + overtime paid at 1.25x after 39 hours

Hours: Approximately 35 hours per week, Monday to Saturday, starting at 6.00am

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Delivery Driver to join our bakery and distribution team in Steeton on a temporary six-month contract.

This is a varied, hands-on role involving the preparation, loading and delivery of bakery products and other goods to our retail shops. You will primarily cover three shops across Lancashire, although you may occasionally be required to cover other local delivery rounds during periods of absence.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, organised and comfortable with early starts. You will play an important role in ensuring our shops receive the correct goods safely, accurately and on time each day.

Role overview

You will report to our head office at approximately 6.00am each morning to prepare and load the delivery van before completing the daily delivery round.

Once deliveries have been completed, you will collect empty trays and racks from each shop and return them to head office.

Your duties will include:

Arriving at head office at approximately 6.00am to prepare for the daily delivery roundPicking and packing ancillary goods for each shop based on information provided by receptionLoading bakery products and other goods onto the delivery vanComplying with all food hygiene and safe-handling procedures when picking, packing, loading and delivering bakery productsDelivering stock safely and efficiently to three shops across LancashireChecking that the correct goods are delivered to each locationCollecting empty trays and racks from the shopsReturning all empty equipment to head office after completing the delivery roundProviding cover for other delivery routes when requiredEnsuring the delivery vehicle is loaded safely and kept tidyCompleting any required delivery records accuratelyCarrying out additional ad-hoc duties to support the bakery and wider team

Candidate Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will be a punctual and responsible individual who can work independently and manage a daily delivery schedule efficiently.

Skills and Experience Required

A valid full UK driving licence is essentialPrevious van driving or multi-drop delivery experience would be advantageousAble to work Monday to Saturday and start at approximately 6.00amReliable, punctual and committedComfortable loading and unloading bakery products, trays and racksGood organisational and time-management skillsAble to follow delivery instructions accuratelyA flexible approach, with the ability to cover alternative local routes when requiredFriendly and professional when dealing with shop colleaguesAble to work independently and as part of a wider teamWilling to undertake additional duties when required

Working hours are approximately 35 hours per week, although these may fluctuate depending on business requirements. Any hours worked above 39 hours per week will be paid at 1.25 times the standard hourly rate.
