Motor Vehicle Technician Apprentice
Carry out routine servicing and maintenance on a range of light vehicles.
Assist experienced technicians with vehicle inspections, servicing and repairs.
Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults and assist with fault-finding.
Carry out checks on vehicle systems and components to identify defects or potential issues.
Inspect, maintain and repair braking systems, including brake pads, discs and associated components.
Inspect and maintain steering and suspension systems
Carry out checks and maintenance on tyres, wheels and wheel alignment.
Assist with exhaust system inspections, repairs and replacement of components.
Carry out oil, filter, coolant and other fluid checks and replacements .
Replace vehicle components and parts safely and correctly under appropriate supervision.
Follow manufacturer specifications, technical information and recommended repair procedures.
Use a range of hand tools, workshop equipment and specialist diagnostic equipment.
Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Complete job cards, inspection sheets and other relevant workshop documentation.
Maintain accurate records of servicing, repairs and parts used
Keep the workshop, tools and equipment clean, tidy and well maintained.
Follow all company health and safety procedures and ensure safe working practices are maintained.
Handle tools, machinery, vehicle lifts and workshop equipment safely and responsibly.
Develop knowledge of modern vehicle technology, including electrical and electronic systems.
Work as part of the workshop team and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers when required
Attend college training sessions and complete all apprenticeship work and assessments.
Work towards achieving the Level 3 Light Vehicle Technician qualification while gaining practical experience in the workplace.

Functional skills in Maths and English*if applicable
The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated work based trainer who will provide support and guidance throughout the course. This Apprenticeship requires attendance for classroom based sessions once per week at the Grimsby Institute Campus, Nuns Corner, Grimsby, DN34 5AB.
Training Outcome:
Possible permanent contract upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship and further enhanced industry based training. An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence. Transferable skills that are invaluable in the wider world of work.

Working Hours :
Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5.30pm.
