Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice. Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments. Using your own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner. Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed. Receive and make telephone calls as required.  Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery. Deal with requests for home visits, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor. Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are sent direct to the pharmacy. Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment, and issue receipts. Enter patient information on to the computer as required. Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately. Scanning hospital letters into medical notes. Franking post. Dealing with emails internal and external. Patient notes and correspondence.

Training:

Training will take place at Springboard, Rivergreen Industrial Estate, Pallion, Sunderland. SR4 6AD.



Training Outcome:

Progression to team leader, office manager or other roles in the healthcare industry.

Working Hours :
Over a 37 hour week the successful candidate will be expected to work on a weekly rota and must be available to work between the hours of 8.00am and 6.00pm.
