Hairdressing - Hair Professional Apprenticeship
Apprentices beginning their Hair Professional Apprenticeship may be expected to carry out a variety of tasks, including:
Shampooing clients’ hair and applying treatments Blow-drying and basic styling Assisting senior stylists and other team members Providing front-of-house support, including greeting clients and managing bookings Carrying out general salon duties to maintain cleanliness and organisationTraining:
VTCT will award your Hair Professional qualification, which is a nationally recognised Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will gain the essential skills and experience needed to begin your career in the hair industry.
During your apprenticeship, you will receive:
Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing Functional Skills in English and maths at Level 1 or 2 (if required) Francesco Group Business Enterprise ProjectAll training is work-based and delivered within a reputable commercial salon, where you will work as part of the salon team. You will also benefit from dedicated training sessions at the Francesco Hair state-of-the-art academy in Birmingham.

You will attend our modern training academy in Birmingham City Centre once a week. The academy mirrors the environment of a professional salon and includes:
Fully equipped training salons Interactive lecture rooms and digital presentation tools Laptops and internet access for independent learningOne-to-one support sessions to guide your progress
To ensure you stay on track, progress reviews will take place every twelve weeks at your salon with your employer and an academy representative.

Upon successful completion of the Hair Professional Apprenticeship, there are several progression opportunities available to support your continued growth in the hairdressing industry, including:
Progression onto the Advanced and Creative Hair Professional Apprenticeship Specialising in areas such as barbering or becoming a colour expert Pursuing qualifications such as the Assessor’s Award or TAQA (Training, Assessment, and Quality Assurance) to move into training and assessing rolesThese pathways provide opportunities to expand your expertise, enhance your career options, and potentially progress into salon management or education.

Leanne left school at 16 to begin her hairdressing apprenticeship after two years as a Saturday girl in a local salon. With 26 years’ experience and NVQ Level 3 training, she’s passionate about staying at the top of her craft through ongoing education — ensuring every client benefits from modern techniques, premium products, and a confident, professional approach.
Leanne, the salon owner, is a Master of Balayage and is also qualified in Racoon Hair Extensions, offering carefully tailored colour work and seamless transformations that still feel like “you”. She opened Salon No. 100 in 2021, creating a boutique salon environment where clients are never rushed or passed around — just properly looked after.
Working Hours :
Days and hours will be confirmed by the employer. Minimum 30-hours per week Maximum 40-hours per week Includes Saturdays.
