Apprentice Welder

This will be a varied role, learning many different skills such as:

Welding, including preparation of joints, setting up equipment, learning a variety of weld types Interpreting and understanding Engineering Drawings Helium leak testing Using hand tools such as Angle Grinders, Grinding Wheels & Pillar Drills Sand Blasting Ultrasonic Cleaning

Training:

This Apprenticeship is taught at Shrewsbury College London Road campus on a day release basis one day per week, with the remainder of the working week in the workplace with the employer.  



Training Outcome:

Following a successful apprenticeship, a full time permanent role could be available – ideally as a welder but other roles available if more suitable.

 



Employer Description:

Shropshire Precision Engineering are an engineering company supplying into the Semiconductor sector. We provide 3, 4 & 5 axis milling and turning, mechanical and electrical assembly, welding, pressure testing and ultrasonic cleaning services on site. We are based across two units on Atcham Business Park (32 & 49). All assembly & testing is carried out in strictly controlled environments (clean rooms) and can only be accessed in the appropriate PPE, with no food or drink allowed. Regular refreshment breaks are provided. We have experienced significant growth in the past 5 years with 2/3 of our current workforce joining us during that time, and we predict similar levels of growth over the next 5 years which will create a variety of opportunities for new, incoming team members.



Working Hours :
Flexible hours available. Monday to Thursday - 8.5h/day. Friday - 6 hours. Start time between 6.00am and 8.00am, to suit candidate.
