Apprentice Banker Stonemason
The tasks will be as follows:
To understand and confirm masonry requirements against drawings and orders To make moulds or templates or use pre-existing moulds to produce stone masonry pieces such as windows and sills The use of hand tools and power tools to produce the required products Working to precise details and high-quality specifications Dressing of stone to the required finish Some conservation and restoration of heritage stone items Occasional installation of the finished product on site Adherence to all Health & Safety requirements on site Working as part of a small team to deliver orders on time and to the highest qualityTraining:
Stonemason Level 2.
Stonemason apprentices attend college on block release which is for 2-weeks per term approximately and work for their employer for the rest of the time. If required Functional Skills are delivered as a separate block release.
Training Outcome:
Permanent, full-time role at the end of the apprenticeship.
Employer Description:
The business was established in 2009 and employs 7 people.
A working quarry dealing with the extraction of sandstone block and processing this onsite to produce building and masonry products for housing, external uses, heritage items and architectural design pieces.
Working Hours :
Age 16-17 = 40 hours - 08.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Age 18 or over = 45 hours - 07.30 to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Plus, optional Saturday morning work.
