Electrical Engineer Apprentice

Electrical control panel wiring: Building and wiring control panels from schematic drawings, mounting components, routing cables, and ensuring correct terminations Machine wiring and loom assembly: Manufacturing wiring looms, cutting / stripping / crimping cables, and routing harnesses through oven chassis Reading schematics: Interpreting electrical diagrams, wiring schedules, and engineering drawings to assemble ovens correctly Integrating electrical circuits: Installing heating circuits, filters, sensors, relays, contactors, and safety shutdown devices into the oven assembly Working with single‑phase and three‑phase systems: Handling 230V-415V systems, selecting correct cable sizes   Fault finding and troubleshooting: Diagnosing wiring faults, component failures, and control issues, escalating to engineering when needed Mechanical assembly: Fitting sheet‑metal panels, mounting heaters, fans, ducting, brackets, and assembling oven chambers Quality inspections: Performing visual checks, verifying torque settings, ensuring correct routing, and documenting results Safety procedures: electrical safety rules Final testing and commissioning: Ensuring ovens leave the factory fully tested, calibrated, and operating to specification, occasional on‑site commissioning after training

Training:
Engineering Maintenance Technician - Single Discipline Level 3  Weekly attendance at Riverside College, Widnes

Training Outcome:

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be opportunities for permanent roles within the organisation, subject to business needs and performance.

Genlab designs and manufactures a range of industrial ovens, laboratory ovens, incubators, drying cabinets, water baths and other associated thermal products. The company has three divisions providing a product range noted for its quality, reliability and performance, whilst remaining cost competitive throughout. 



Working Hours :
8.00am - 4.45pm Monday - Thursday 8.00am - 1.15pm Friday (30 minute lunch break each day) 39 hours a week.
