Apprentice Electrician – Renewables & Solar

Working within MJ Electrical Group's renewable energy division, this apprenticeship position will enable you to become a specialist within the burgeoning sustainable energy sector, whilst also developing all the necessary skills needed to be a more general Installation Electrician too. You will support the installation, maintenance, and testing of renewable energy systems such as solar PV, battery storage, EV charging points, and heat pumps, as well as gain knowledge of wider commercial and domestic environments within the electrical installation industry.

A typical day in this role may involve:

Assisting with the installation of solar panels and electrical systems Running and securing cables and conduit Installing inverters, battery storage units, and EV chargers Connecting electrical components under supervision Testing circuits and checking electrical systems are safe Using hand and power tools safely Reading technical drawings and installation plans Troubleshooting basic faults and assisting with repairs Completing job reports and installation records • Maintaining tools, equipment, and a tidy work area Following health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times Working alongside qualified electricians and other trades on-site

Your will be required to:

Support renewable energy installations Learn electrical regulations and industry standards Assist with inspections and commissioning of systems Attend college training and apply learning on-site Develop knowledge of sustainable energy technologies

Training:

You will work towards the: Installation and Maintenance Electrician Apprenticeship Standard Training will be delivered through day release to MK College alongside your workplace learning.

Training Outcome:

This role will provide exposure to the rapidly growing sectors of solar energy, battery storage, electric vehicle infrastructure, and low-carbon technologies. On successful completion of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will be offered a full-time position with the opportunity to progress onto more senior roles.

The company is a MCS certified solar panel installer working across the Beds, Bucks and Herts region.

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday – 8am to 4pm.
