Apprentice Engineering Technician

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Energy:

Assist staff across a variety of tasks, including estimating, surveys, inspections, assessments, design commissions, and technical submissions, bringing enthusiasm and a proactive approach Support additional delegated activities and demonstrate adaptability in responding to project needs

Professional:

Assist in ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, CDM Regulations, and COSHH requirements through the production of high-quality design deliverables Adhere to design codes of practice, Network Rail standards, local working instructions, and CAD / BIM standards to maintain technical excellence

Innovation:

Support the production of 2D, 3D, and 4D models, drawings, visualisations, and animations using various CAD / BIM software packages, contributing to efficient project delivery Utilise various data sources, CAD / BIM, and photogrammetry software to create accurate survey models Assist with clash detection activities, gauging, and clearance checks, ensuring seamless project execution

Care:

Contribute to the production of schedules, bills of quantities, construction sequencing, and setting out information, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail Undertake PTS (Personal Track Safety) training as required, prioritising workplace safety and compliance

Team:

Work closely with colleagues to support design and assessment projects, developing technical skills in a supportive learning environment Engage with a team-focused culture, contributing to shared success and continuous improvement

Training:

Day release during term time attending University. On the job training.



Training Outcome:

As you progress you'll move into an Engineering role.

FJD Consulting are an award winning engineering design consultancy working largely in the rail sector. We have offices in Birmingham and Bristol. We specialise in civil and structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, electrical engineering, Building Information Management (BIM), low carbon engineering, and engineering innovations.



Working Hours :
Monday - Friday - 40 hours per week including day release during term time. Flexi time to be agreed with the Line Manager.
