EDM Engineering Apprentice

How to work safely by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. How to operate precision machinery e.g. ensure it is kept in working condition and properly calibrated. Ability to set intricate parts on the machine in the correct place and orientation. How to verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards. Set all machine operation information and parameters to ensure optimised running of each job. Clean up machine parts after every work procedure. Troubleshoot machine problems to determine actual faults. Data entry - write or edit programs for EDM machines, note all running speeds and cycle times against the AJM part no, feedback improvement opportunities in relation to job pack e.g. route improvement, measure all parts accurately and log on the provided dimension sheet. Saving all programs created onto the AJM central database. Study and follow job pack to ensure accuracy in production task and complete tasks as requested e.g. signing task off once Op is completed. Report to Cell Lead(s) regularly, keeping them updated on production activities and progress. Carry out daily / weekly machine maintenance Maintain clean and tidy work ethic.

Training:

1 day per week at college and 4 days per week on site at AJM.



Training Outcome:

Job offer at the end of the apprenticeship.

Business been in operation since 1964. Manufacturer of precision parts and moulds in a variety of metals including exotics.



Working Hours :
Mon to Thu 8am to 5pm with lunch (1pm to 1.30pm) Fri 8am to 1pm Cannot confirm which day will be at college until course information supplied.
