Senior Mental Health Social Worker

We are looking for a Senior Social Worker to join an NHS-integrated Community Mental Health Team in North London.

This role requires a Social Work Qualification with a minimum of 3 years post qualified experience, ideally at senior level.

About the team

Provide senior practice leadership within an integrated community mental health team, working alongside NHS colleagues under Section 75 partnership arrangements. Supervise and support social workers and unqualified staff, providing regular case supervision, professional oversight and practice development to maintain high standards across the team. Undertake the Duty Senior role, prioritising competing demands, supporting complex decision-making and managing risk under pressure. Act as Safeguarding Adults Manager (SAM), overseeing Section 42 enquiries and ensuring safeguarding decisions are proportionate, person-centred and in line with statutory duties. Hold and oversee complex cases, completing Care Act 2014 assessments and reviews, mental capacity assessments under the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Section 117 aftercare planning. A role suited to a confident senior social worker with strong knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act, and the ability to model excellent practice within a multidisciplinary, health-integrated setting.

About you

A degree within Social Work (Degree/DipSW/CQSW) with a minimum of three years experience is essential in order to be considered for this role. Experience within a community mental health or NHS-integrated setting, and of supervising staff, is desirable.
