Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprentice
You will develop practical skills in the installation, testing, fault finding, repair, modification and planned maintenance of engineering workshop machinery. The role involves working across electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, while also supporting teachers and students during engineering-based activities.
Training:
In the first year you will spend time completing a core skills and knowledge training programme at NC Group training Academy. In years 2 to 4, you will be based mainly at UTC South Durham with day release at NC Group Academy, gaining hands-on experience while developing your skills to carry out a broad range of activities.
Training Outcome:
This apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for a career in engineering maintenance, mechatronics and electrical engineering. Successful completion can lead to progression into skilled engineering maintenance roles.

The Durham UTC Limited operates UTC South Durham, a specialist University Technical College providing technical and academic education for 14–19-year-olds. Based at Aycliffe Business Park, the UTC specialises in STEM, engineering and advanced manufacturing, combining classroom learning with practical, industry-focused experience to prepare young people for successful careers.
