Data Analyst Apprentice – The Pirbright Institute – GU24 0NF – £20,402p/a – 37hrs/w

The L4 Data Analyst Apprentice in the Knowledge Exchange and Collaboration (KEC) team supports the collection, validation, and analysis of impact data to demonstrate programme outcomes. The apprentice also supports monitoring and evaluation processes, documents data practices, and collaborates with colleagues to understand reporting needs. Through developing skills in data analysis, communication, and problem-solving, they play a key role in strengthening evidence-based impact assessment.

Role responsibilities include:

Collect and compile impact data from multiple internal and external sources.  Clean, validate, and organise datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.  Analyse data to identify trends, outcomes, and insights on programme impact.  Create reports, dashboards, and visualisations to communicate findings clearly.  Support monitoring & evaluation frameworks and impact measurement methods.  Work with stakeholders to understand data needs and reporting requirements.  Document processes, data definitions, and analysis methods.  Ensure data governance, privacy, and ethical use of information. 

The successful candidate will have an interest in business analysis and data and be keen to develop their skills through the apprenticeship. They will be organised, have good attention to detail, and enjoy working with data to solve problems. They will also be able to work effectively with colleagues across the Institute and be willing to learn new systems and ways of working. 

Essential 

GCSEs or Functional Skills at Level 2 (GCSE 4+) in English, Science, and Maths (s).  Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office  An interest in data analysis, business improvement and project delivery (s/i)  Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.(s/i)  Ability to work independently and as part of a team. (s/i) 

Desirable 

Evidence of networking skills with the ability to build effective collaborative relationships (s/i)  Basic knowledge of Python or other data analysis tools (s)  Experience working with databases or spreadsheets. Such as Microsoft excel (s) 

Training:

During this apprenticeship, you will follow a fully supported training programme with LearnTech, delivered through combined weekly remote classroom-based training, workplace assessment/training and online learning working towards completing the Data Analyst standard.

Training Outcome:

Upon completion, the apprentice will have a qualification as a Level 4 Data Analyst.
