We are looking to recruit an experienced Metallurgist Heat Treatment Manufacturing Engineer based in Halewood, this is a unique opportunity to join a recognised, international specialist manufacturer at an award winning site.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor, you will be part of the plant manufacturing engineering team and be responsible for developing, maintaining and improving all Heat treatment and shot peening manufacturing processes within the plant.
You will manage projects and deliver them to optimal standards including safety, cost, on time and aligned with strict engineering standards.
You will work with a varied range of teams including other engineers, management, production, and maintenance personnel to deliver projects and services which support an advanced manufacturing environment transforming into a world leader.
Major Responsibilities as the Metallurgist / Heat Treatment Manufacturing Engineer

Process owner of a series of heat treatment and shot peening production processes for various components and assemblies
Managing the implementation of major capital projects.
Initiate and implement cost improvement actions

Monitor compliance to necessary standards; GIS, CQI-9, TS16949, ISO14001 & ISO18001.
Drive Reliability and Maintainability philosophy from enquiry to installation.
Environmental compliance
Identify and implement innovative solutions to engineering activities
Effectively manage contractors in all aspects of projects, especially health and safety, project control,
Integrate with the existing Engineering team and work with internal and external parties to achieve project deliverables
Drive continuous improvement of business objectives
Effective communication outside and inside the organisation including Trade Union.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required by the Metallurgist / Heat Treatment Manufacturing Engineer
The candidate should be qualified to degree level in a Metallurgical/Materials engineering/science discipline.
Candidates not meeting this criterion but with the relevant industrial experience will be considered on an exception basis only.
Successful applicants may be required to study for a degree, if required.
Experience of industrialised heat treatment processes, particularly gas carburising and induction hardening
Experience of industrialised component shot peening.
Quality control and evaluation of heat treatment and surface preparation processes
General computer literacy and familiar with Excel, Word or equivalent and project management software (e.g.
Project)
A ‘can do’ attitude is essential together with the ability to work in a challenging environment and overcome complex problems to meet demanding deadlines
Analytical mindset to develop engineering solutions
Excellent people and communication skills
Highly motivated and self-driven
Ability to direct teams
Experience of problem solving techniques and tools such as 8D's, 5 Why, 6-Sigma
