Apprentice Electrical Engineer
As part of our team, you'll be based within the Cumbria Consortium, supporting one of the UK's largest and most significant integrated facilities management partnerships. Mitie delivers facilities management services across multiple sites within the Consortium, including Sellafield Ltd, Europe's largest nuclear site.
Mitie has worked in partnership with Sellafield since 2003, with the relationship growing over the years into a full integrated facilities management contract covering engineering, cleaning, security, waste management, grounds maintenance, catering and projects. Today, hundreds of Mitie colleagues support the operation of sites across Cumbria and Warrington.
This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on engineering experience within a complex and highly regulated environment. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists, developing the skills, behaviours and knowledge needed to maintain essential systems and infrastructure that support critical national operations.
As an Apprentice Electrical Engineer at Mitie, you'll be at the heart of what we do, making a real impact from day one. Here's a glimpse of what your journey could include:
Developing the skills and technical knowledge required to inspect, test, fault find, maintain and repair electrical equipment and systems Supporting planned preventative maintenance activities and responding to electrical maintenance requirements across site Learning how to safely use electrical drawings, schematics, testing equipment and technical documentation Working alongside experienced electricians and engineers to gain practical, hands-on experience in a live operational environment Helping to diagnose faults, support repairs and contribute to the reliability and performance of critical electrical infrastructure Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) standards, making safety and sustainability a priority in every taskTraining:
As part of your apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto the Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician (Electrical Pathway) Apprenticeship Standard, which typically runs for approximately 42-48-months.
You will be fully supported by our training provider, Lakes College, and experienced site teams through a combination of classroom learning, practical training, on-the-job experience, one-to-one coaching, e-learning materials and mentoring from industry experts.
