Substance & Complex Needs Worker Watford Charity – Homelessness Service 12 Weeks Temp to Perm Contract 37 Hours per WeekA large national charity are recruiting for a Complex Needs Support Worker in Watford to support a caseload of service users with complex needs, working towards independent living.The Service This Complex Needs Support Worker role is based in a 40-bed accommodation project in Watford, providing supported housing to residents in two separate projects under one roof.

Half of the building is designated for WBC's Temporary Accommodation and the other half is for the Afghan Relocation project.The Role The focus of this Complex Needs Support Worker is to work with a caseload of 10 residents across both projects, delivering support in an individualized and person-centric manner, utilizing a multi-agency approach and working towards shared goals with residents to help them achieve realistic and achievable short, medium, and long-term goals.

This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:

Provide day to day support to a caseload of residents with complex and coexisting needs
Ensure each resident has a clear programme of support in place to help them achieve the independent living skills required
Develop and maintain operational links with key partners and stakeholders keeping them fully informed of the pathways and support needs of the residents.
Ensuring individual views, aspirations and needs are the core element to all support planning / key working sessions
Assessing and supporting referrals & residents to recognise their support needs and goals
Helping to identify underlying causes of challenging behaviours and other mental health needs
Provide advocacy and mediation on behalf of the resident where appropriate,
Follow up any safeguarding related issues, ensuring they are dealt with effectively including appropriate referrals to safeguarding boards
Act as a positive role model and mentor supporting residents to identify and address their support needs
Prompt, encourage, motivate & empower residents to engage with all aspects of their support plans to achieve the appropriate move-on plan
Undertake referral assessments to determine the suitability of accommodation and levels of support needs.
Complete all appropriated documentation in relation to incoming residents,
Monitor and control rent accounts working proactively to reduce arrears.
Carry out regular room / premises checks to ensure compliance with health & safety requirements and in a good state of repair
Work closely with all partner agencies to ensure a coordinated multiagency response to all substance use issues

The Candidate To be considered for this Complex Needs Support Worker role you will have an understanding of complex needs and therapeutic approaches to support the residents in addressing their needs and inform change, as well as good knowledge of housing support and tenancy sustainment.

As you will be working with vulnerable service users, a DBS on the Update Service will be beneficial to your application.The Package This is a full time Complex Needs Support Worker role, working Monday to Friday and will include occasional weekend hours.

Shifts below include a 30-minute lunch break; Week 1 Early shift – 8am – 4pm and Week 2 Late shift – 1pm - 9pm.

This is an initial 12 week temporary contract, with a view to becoming permanent, on a salary of £30,621.
