Production Machine Operator - Plastics Manufacturing

AQUMEN Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of an established specialist manufacturer in Bingley.

We are looking for a Production Machine Operator to join a busy manufacturing operation producing polythene film and packaging products to detailed customer specifications.

This is a hands-on, machine-led production position rather than a general warehouse or picking-and-packing role. Full training will be provided on specialist extrusion, conversion and bagging machinery, with opportunities to develop your skills and progress to higher-level machine-setting responsibilities.

Shift Pattern

You must be able to work all three shifts as part of the rotating pattern:

06:00-14:3014:00-22:3022:00-06:30Monday to Friday

Applicants should consider how they will travel to and from work for each shift, particularly for early starts and late finishes.

The Role

Following training, your responsibilities will include:

Setting up, operating and monitoring production machineryWorking with extrusion, conversion and bagging linesBlending and loading raw materialsSelecting and loading rolls of prepared filmFollowing job cards and detailed product specificationsMonitoring product size, quality and consistencyMaking basic machine adjustments within your level of trainingRemoving finished rolls and products from machineryPacking, wrapping, labelling and stacking finished goodsRecording product quantities, roll or box weights and quality checksIdentifying and reporting machinery or product faultsRemoving rejected material and preparing it for recyclingKeeping machinery and production areas clean and organisedFollowing all health and safety, hygiene and quality proceduresSupporting colleagues to keep the continuous production process running efficiently

What We're Looking For

Previous machine-operating or manufacturing experience is desirable, particularly within:

Plastics or polythene manufacturing

Packaging

Extrusion or conversion

Printing

Process manufacturing

Food or other continuous-production environments

Applications are also welcomed from practically minded candidates who have transferable skills and a genuine willingness to complete extensive on-the-job training.

You should be:

Mechanically or practically mindedComfortable operating industrial machineryAble to follow job cards and written instructions accuratelyQuality-focused, with strong attention to detailConfident completing production and quality recordsReliable, punctual and looking for permanent employmentComfortable working independently and as part of a shift teamWilling and able to work the full three-shift rotationComfortable undertaking regular manual handling

This is a physically active position involving regular manual handling, moving production rolls and packaged products, and working around machinery located across several floors.
