Engineering Design Apprentice

As an Engineering design apprentice, you will work alongside experienced engineers, gaining the practical skills and technical knowledge needed to become a competent design engineer including producing accurate technical drawings and 3D models using CAD software. Working closely with design engineers, manufacturing, and production teams, you will assist in creating designs that meet customer requirements and industry standards while developing your technical knowledge through the apprenticeship standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with the design and development of new products Produce and update 2D and 3D CAD models and engineering drawings Support prototype builds, product testing and design validation Help prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical documentation and design specifications Work closely with manufacturing, quality and purchasing teams to ensure products are practical, cost-effective and manufacturable Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement activities Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision control Follow company health, safety and quality procedures

Training:

This is a Level 3 Engineering and Manufacturing Support apprenticeship, delivered over a 30-month period.

The apprentice will attend the training centre, In-Comm Training Services in Telford TF3 3AJ, for the first 7 months.



Training Outcome:

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity to progress into a permanent Product Design Engineer role, subject to business needs and individual performance.

As your experience grows, you could develop into roles such as:

Product Design Engineer Design & Development Engineer Mechanical Design Engineer Project Engineer New Product Development (NPD) Engineer Senior Design Engineer Engineering Team Leader or Engineering Manager (with further experience)

You will continue to develop your technical skills through ongoing training, exposure to increasingly complex projects, and opportunities to gain further professional qualifications or higher HNC qualification in engineering.

CAPS offer a range of battery handling products, designed and manufactured within their Telford base. CAPS portfolio stretches from simple roller beds through to powered magnetic extraction units. With many years of experience manufacturing special purpose machines, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of the MHE industry, CAPS are uniquely placed to offer innovative solutions covering all battery handling requirements. The success of the company has come from the ability to offer complete Battery handling solutions including ventilation, electrics and mechanical installation. Providing the batteries and chargers and they do the rest. They design, manufacture and assembly offering a complete turnkey project, managed from start to finish.

Working Hours :
Monday - Thursday 7.30am - 4.15pm and Friday 7.30am - 1.30pm.
