Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join a growing engineering team developing advanced software solutions for next-generation space missions. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, mission-critical systems within the space sector, contributing to the design, development and maintenance of high-quality software platforms that support critical operational capabilities. We are seeking a talented software engineer with strong full stack development experience and a background in developing reliable software solutions within demanding environments such as space, defence, aerospace, telecommunications, automotive or other safety-critical industries. Key Responsibilities As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, you will: - Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using modern programming languages. - Architect and develop responsive, user-focused frontend applications using modern frameworks. - Design, manage and optimise databases to ensure performance, reliability and data integrity. - Build and maintain containerised applications using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. - Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines to support efficient software delivery. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to define, design and deliver new capabilities. - Troubleshoot complex software issues across the full technology stack. - Contribute to Agile development practices, including sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives. - Support continuous improvement of software engineering processes, tools and practices. Essential Experience The successful candidate will have: - A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience. - 5+ years’ experience developing software for mission-critical or high-reliability applications. - Strong full stack software development experience. - Extensive object-oriented programming experience using languages such as Java, Python or C++. - Experience developing modern frontend applications using frameworks such as React. - Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments. Technical Skills Strong experience in several of the following areas is highly desirable: - Containerisation technologies including Docker, Kubernetes and Docker Compose. - CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI or GitHub Actions. - SQL databases and data management. - Git and modern version control workflows. - Cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. - Software security best practices. - Space communication standards such as CCSDS or ECSS protocols. - Ground segment software systems. - Space data standards such as SCOS-2000 or XTCE.
