An exciting new opportunity is now available for an experienced, people focussed individual to lead the delivery of the EDI strategy, including management of the HR function, for an environmental charity with a mission to move the world beyond waste.

Our professional knowledge and trusted reputation enable us to inform and influence legislation and policy, playing a vital part in shaping the future role and reputation of the sector.In order to drive our far-reaching EDI and HR agenda over the next 5 years, we are now seeking a proactive EDI & HR Manager links to cement links to organisation’s strategic priorities related to Leading with Excellence and creating an organisation which is resilient and leads by example.The successful individual will have a demonstrable commitment to:

Supporting the leadership and management team to create a positive, inclusive and equitable working culture
Ensuring EDI is considered and furthered as part of all we do with our members, clients and stakeholders
Informing our members and the wider sector on what they can do to support the creation of diverse and inclusive sector and to enrich our members sense of belonging
Building relationships with the education sector to improve the knowledge of and the brand of our sector to the next generation.

The ideal individual will be an excellent project manager, able to drive improvement and positive change through collaborative working and excellent stakeholder engagement.Key Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of the CIWM Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Strategy, including the day-to-day organisational lead on all EDI matters at CIWM
Support the leadership and management team to create a positive, inclusive and equitable working culture
Ensure EDI is considered and furthered as part of all we do with our members, clients and stakeholders
Inform our members and the wider sector on what they can do to support the creation of diverse and inclusive sector and to enrich our members sense of belonging
Build relationships with the education sector to improve the knowledge of and the brand of our sector to the next generation.
You will deliver the EDI strategy which includes –


Engage with and manage the EDI Sector Inclusion Committee - a sector wide steering group for the EDI Strategy
Deliver EDI training sessions for CIWM Staff, volunteers and members; working with external learning providers where appropriate
Monitor and report on effectiveness of EDI initiatives
Provide advice, guidance and support on EDI issues
Act as an advocate for, and represent the needs of, Under Represented Groups and lead on developing appropriate Networks / Resource Groups
Design and deliver EDI presentations and recommendations
Deliver the systems for reporting any incidents related to EDI, including responding to complaints and providing information on options for complainants
Raise awareness of equality issues and promoting change including working with internal Comms and Marketing team to promote CIWM’s EDI work and share EDI information


Deliver HR policies and processes which are effective and reflect our EDI strategy and our HR Strategy
Provide support, guidance and training to the CIWM leadership and management team on all HR activities, directing them to the external HR support where appropriate
Ensure the outsourced HR provider delivers a high quality service

Skills & Experience

Highly collaborative leader, able to motivate others in EDI issues and opportunities
Ability to think strategically and innovatively and apply a systematic process driven approach to delivering initiatives
Clear leadership skills with the ability to share a vision and translate this into deliverable and KPIs
Project management from business case through to benefits delivery with appropriate measurement and reporting of impact
Develop and foster trusted relationships, building credibility with key stakeholders and able to work in partnership and with people at all levels
Expertise in relation to EDI legislation, policy and practice, including but not limited to the Equality Act 2010 and an ability to maintain EDI knowledge 4
Aptitude to maintain knowledge of HR legislation and seek out new approaches to the world of work
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Excellent listening skills and an ability to understand and empathise
