Grounds & Facilities Apprentice

To assist the Grounds & Facilities Manager with Grounds and Maintenance weekly work programme. Tasks will include use of appropriate machinery / equipment for the maintenance of Parish Council owned land (for example but not limited to strimmer, hedge cutters etc. Full training on the use of such equipment will be provided prior to first use and as necessary thereafter, as outlined below. Undertake necessary training as required to operate machinery / equipment. Carry out weekly litter picking around the Parish of Castle Donington as directed by the Grounds & Facilities Manager, including emptying of all bins. There will be a requirement to work outdoors in inclement weather. Open and close the facilities for bookings when required. Support Castle Donington Parish Council Staff and Councillors at Parish events as required this could be helping set up, clear away or other duties leading up to, during and after the event.  You will be expected to work all of these.  Notification of dates will be given at interview. Deliver promotional leaflets or material when required to houses and businesses within the local area and placing posters in notice boards in the village. To assist the Grounds & Facilities Manager with maintenance checks when required in our facilities and at our Parish owned Play Parks, Open Spaces, Allotments and Cemetery. To assist in undertaking maintenance tasks within the Councils land and properties (and facilities) including minor repair work, painting, general maintenance to ensure a high standard of public service is always provided. This is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation. 

Training Outcome:

Qualified in Horticulture at Level 2.

Working Hours :
8.00am - 4.00pm, Monday to Thursday. 8.00am - 1.00pm, Friday.
