Apprentice HGV Workshop Mechanic

Working alongside our team of Heavy Vehicle Mechanics you will learn from your mentor how to carry out:

Maintenance and repair of waste collection, street cleansing and ancillary service vehicles and equipment to meet current legislation, health, and safety standards and DVSA standards Receive hands-on training in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems Work on a diverse fleet of specialist vehicles Learn from experienced HGV Mechanics in a modern workshop

Training:

The delivery of this course takes place over 3 years and is conducted through 1-week block release every other month from start to finish. A course plan is issued on enrolment covering the whole apprenticeship duration so that dates are issued well ahead to ensure best planning for the employer and apprentice allowing maximum attendance on all dates given.

The apprentice will gain valuable workplace experience through the completion of this qualification and will achieve the Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician through City and Guilds, allowing for eligibility to apply to the relevant body as a qualified Engineering Technician. For further development there is opportunity in the future to then progress to a Master Technician once skills from the Level 3 have been thoroughly put into practice.



Training Outcome:

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there is the opportunity for a permanent role.

Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm.
