Engineering Fitter Apprentice

You'll work alongside experienced engineers and technicians, learning the skills needed to manufacture high-quality cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, and electromechanical products used in industries including Aerospace, Telecommunications, Broadcast, Transport, and Satellite Communications

As an Engineering Fitter Apprentice, you'll receive structured training and hands-on experience across our production department. You will learn how to:

Manufacture cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, looms, and electromechanical assemblies. Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and build instructions. Carry out cable preparation activities including cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering. Assemble connectors, terminals, and electrical components. Apply protective materials such as heat shrink and sleeving. Use specialist hand tools and production equipment safely and effectively. Complete inspections and quality checks on finished products. Maintain production records and manufacturing documentation. Follow health, safety, and quality procedures at all times. Support continuous improvement activities within the production team.

Training:

You will complete a Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship, combining practical workplace experience with structured off-the-job learning delivered by an approved apprenticeship provider.

During your apprenticeship, you'll develop skills in:

Mechanical and electrical assembly Engineering drawing interpretation Fitting and assembly techniques Quality assurance and inspection Safe working practices Fault finding and problem solving Continuous improvement Professional workplace behaviour

Training Outcome:

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be opportunities to progress into a permanent Engineering Fitter or Production Technician role within Gem Cable Solutions, with further development pathways available across engineering and manufacturing.
