Level 3 Mechanical Engineering Fitter Apprentice

Over the four years the apprentice learns on real customer machine rebuilds in our Peterborough workshop, mentored by our senior
engineers, with each skill signed off as they master it. With us, they are trained across:

Health, safety and safe working practices Engineering drawings and precision measurement Marking out and datums Hand tools, filing and stoning Power tools and portable equipment Drilling, tapping, reaming and doweling Lathe, mill and surface grinder Fasteners, bearings and seals Crane operations and safe lifting Inspection, quality and sign-off (ISO 9001 / AS9100) Machine alignment and geometry Ballscrew alignment and assembly Hydraulic, pneumatic and lube pipe fitting Scraping and Turcite Spindle rebuilding Machine levelling Spray painting Blacking and surface finishing

Training:
Year 1: 1 day a week at Peterborough College Year 2: 1 day a week at Peterborough College Year 3: 1 day a week at Peterborough College Year 4: Fully work-based

Training Outcome:

The expected career progression is to work as a field service engineer attending customer sites. This means that once you are qualified, some travel will be expected as part of the role, with the costs covered by the company. 

For suitable candidates, UK and international travel then opens up, assisting our customers and Danobat HQ in Spain.
