Fabrication and Welding Apprentice

We are currently recruiting for apprentice fabricator/welders to join the company.

The successful candidates will be organised, diligent and able to confidently work under pressure.

Exceptional communication skills are vital.

An interest in working with metal is essential; welding, cutting, and reshaping will be required as part of the part of the apprenticeship.

You will join our established apprenticeship programme, where you will study and learn while you are working as an apprentice fabricator/welder under the guidance of a designated experienced Company mentor who will help you gain product knowledge within the five Canal brands.

We are looking for someone with great hand-eye coordination, and an ability to follow engineering instructions accurately in a variety of material thicknesses.

As an Apprentice Fabricator/Welder, your daily duties will be based on learning the following:

Welding Sheet metal work Cutting Folding Laser Cutting CAD Software Various CNC Machinery Fabrication Food grade standard polishing Assembly work – assembly fitting

Further learning will be required, which may include in-house coded welding or external training such as PASMA/IPAF/Overhead Crane Training etc.

In company induction on starting and ongoing health & safety training relevant to the role and equipment used within the role.

Level 3 Metal Fabrication apprenticeship standard Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) Level: 3

OR

Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

Training will be delivered one day per week, term time, and is based at The Highfield site and facilities are in creation to enrich the student experience, developing them with the necessary skills using industry-recognised equipment to ensure the apprentice receives training closely matched to the employer’s and industry.

Working Hours :
Monday - Friday, 7.30am - 4.00pm, 30 minute unpaid lunch.
