Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - Surrey Square Primary School

Key Responsibilities: 

Encouraging children to have the confidence to share ideas Encouraging independence Re-phrasing and interpreting language/explaining in different ways Following up with children who have not “got it” Using talk partners Making it fun Thinking about how they will learn – using relevant resources, e.g. games etc Assessing for learning – feeding back information to other staff Self evaluation with pupils Marking children’s work Record keeping Targeting SEN pupils and/or other specific groups e.g. gifted and talented, underachieving Supporting pupils with IEP targets as a part of the whole class learning Working IN the classroom to support the learning

Personal Skills:

Ability to relate well to children and adults Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these Understanding of principles of child development and learning processes Ability to plan and provide effective learning support Ability to self-evaluate own learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities A professional, responsible approach to school life Being self-motivated and proactive An overall concern for the well being of the children in the school Having the confidence to follow up on sessions, engage in discussion about learning and next steps Ability to adapt to different teacher’s style To be connected to the learning in the classroom

Training:
Apprenticeship Standard: Level 3 Teaching Assistant
Duration: 16 months  Delivery: All learning will be delivered online alongside the full-timeplacement at the school

Training Outcome:

Possible full-time employment upon completion of the apprenticeship.

Working Hours :
Monday - Friday, 8:45am - 4.00pm, with a 30 min lunchbreak at 11:45.
