Apprentice Buyer (Procurement & Supply Chain)

Learn purchasing approval processes and how internal teams interact with suppliers. Gain experience using ERP systems (e.g. Dynamics AX) and BI tools for spend reporting and supplier data. Support core procurement processes including RFQs, contract approvals, and compliance requirements. Support live Requests for Quotation (RFQs) by gathering data and preparing quotation comparisons. Track and monitor supplier KPIs including cost, quality, and delivery performance. Gain exposure to forecasting and demand planning processes. Learn how demand fluctuations influence purchasing decisions, stock levels, and supplier capacity. Conduct supplier communication, bid analysis, and recommendation preparation. Monitor supplier performance and maintain KPI dashboards. Build commercial awareness through market research and supplier reviews. Analyse risks, cost drivers, and market trends. Manage supplier performance, relationships, and continuous improvement activities.

Training:
Working towards Supply Chain Practitioner Level 3 apprenticeship standard. Training will take place at the employer's site.

Established in 1984, we are a part of a global manufacturing business with operations in more than 40 countries. The business manufactures components that are supplied into performance-critical sectors including Power Generation, Marine, Automotive and Rail.



Working Hours :
Monday - Friday. Flexible start and finish times. Generally people start between 7am-9 am and finish between 4pm-6pm. Employers can be flexible with arranging the suitable start and finish times for the apprentice depending on their commute time.
