Health Care Support Worker – Development Post Apprenticeship

Deliver patient-centred care under the
supervision of registered nurses
• Support patients with bathing, toileting,
dressing and personal hygiene
• Assist with meals, hydration and nutrition
monitoring
• Record patient observations and maintain
accurate records
• Support safe moving and handling of
patients using equipment where required
• Help maintain a clean, safe clinical
environment
• Communicate effectively with patients,
relatives and healthcare professionals
• Escalate concerns regarding patient
wellbeing to registered staff
• Participate fully in apprenticeship
training, study days and competency
assessments
• Work collaboratively as part of the
multidisciplinary team
• Support patients with dignity, respect and
compassion at all times



Training:

Workplace learning with regular study days and
apprenticeship training delivered remotely on site. 



Training Outcome:

On successful completion of the apprenticeship may
lead to progression into a substantive Band 3
Health Care Support Worker role and provide
opportunities for further development within
healthcare services and nursing support careers.

Working Hours :
Monday to Sunday working shift work. 37.5 paid hours per week, breaks and lunch periods accommodated within the working day
