Vessel Operator (Tankers)

Purpose of the Job
To provide proper and timely conveyance of voyage instructions, including pertinent details from the governing charter party and other information applicable for a particular voyage in line with company policies.

Liaise and partner with chartering, ship management, shipboard staff, customers and outside vendors including port agents, terminals, ship managers and authorities to ensure the safest and most efficient vessel operation .
Ensure accurate maintenance of vessel status in IMOS to support accurate invoicing, cost containment and management reporting and monitor and track operations performance coordinating with ship managers for improvement where needed

Key Accountabilities

Ensure voyage instructions from customers are received and understood and passed to the Master in a timely manner and monitor vessel responses to ensure customer receives all required information when required.
Ensure vessel and master are optimizing all voyage optimization tools for voyage performance monitoring and/or routing as necessary.
In collaboration with ship-manager and vessels command, ensure bunker consumptions are monitored.

To carry out analysis of voyage consumptions results over a time period and provide feedback to stakeholder.
Nominate port Agents in time to ensure proper preparation is made for the upcoming port call and to process and ensure PDAs are correctly posted in to financial system and remitted in a timely manner.


Timely and accurate raising/posting of invoices for voyage and lightering in line with governing charter party terms and FCF compliance, including trip time charter out and to facilitate the approval and posting process within IMOS & Support post fixture through effective collaboration and debriefing of completed voyage to optimize cost recovery and demurrage.
Monitor and update ETA information to all pertinent parties and ensure updates are in IMOS.

Coordinate with port agents, terminals and charterers to facilitate information exchange minimizing delays and improving turnaround.

Track NORs to ensure efficient tendering.
Monitor turnaround time during load/discharge operations in line with voyage planning .Ensure all incidents are to be reported in accordance to voyage orders, charter-party, standing instructions as per contract and keeping your line manager updated.


In conjunction with Bunker Manager and Master, ensure efficient bunker planning, procurement and consumption and work with the Master to execute the most economical voyage related to speed, routing, consumption, etc.
Responsible for complete and accurate reflection of the voyage in IMOS including month-end closing
Develop relationships and shipboard operational knowledge via regular ship visits, partner with Shipmanagement to ensure safe and efficient operation of the vessels.


Manage third party tonnage, including monitoring the performance against TCP warranties, approve hire statement, ensure off-hire applied via hire deductions as appropriate.


Recommend improvement processes to line management.
Responsible for ensuring shipboard Onboard reporting requirements are adhered to by the vessel in a timely manner.

Ensure correct generation of cargo documentation (bills of lading, discharge orders, LOIs), heating log and consumptions, deviations report and other cost recovery docs to support delivery of cargo freighting and claim purposes, provide support to post fixtures and accounting departments related to voyage issues
Ensure timely process and payment of trip time charter in hire invoices.
Master and apply the details of contracts and charter parties, participate in customer KPI reviews
Support pre fixture activity (i.e.

oil majors, terminal and owner questionnaires) for screening and ship clearance
Manage Vessel Coordinator(s) Support pre fixture activity (i.e.

oil majors, terminal and owner questionnaires) for screening and ship clearance
Customer engagement to build better relations.
Assisting with SOC management.
Comply with Company's policies and Code of Conduct and Business Ethics (CoBE).

Capable of executing Crisis Management Responsibilities as required by role


Qualifications
Qualifications include:

Education: Maritime degree or other degree with relevant experience
Professional Certification: Third Mates License or relevant maritime/sailing experience)
Experience: 4 years of experience in commercial marine operations, preferably with a tanker owner
Specialized knowledge: Intermediate knowledge of shipping industry in the area of contract management and vessel Operations, especially tanker operations
Skills and Abilities: Communication skills, planning, organizing, attention-to-detail, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, flexibility, adaptability, problem-solving, critical thinking, team player
