Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship

What You'll Be Doing (Doncaster)

Working within a professional laboratory environment, you will:

Prepare samples for chemical analysis Assist with laboratory testing procedures Operate analytical equipment under supervision Record and interpret test data Maintain laboratory documentation and records Follow quality assurance procedures Assist with sample receipt and tracking Support equipment calibration and maintenance Learn laboratory best practices and testing standards Maintain a clean and organised laboratory environment Follow strict health, safety, and environmental procedures

As your skills develop, you'll gain exposure to specialist testing techniques used across environmental and industrial sectors.

What We're Looking For:

Interest in chemistry and laboratory science Strong attention to detail Good numerical and analytical skills Ability to follow procedures accurately Strong organisational skills Basic IT competency Reliable and professional approach Enthusiasm to learn and develop

Entry Requirements:

GCSE maths, English, and Science (Grade 4/C or above preferred). A chemistry qualification desirable but not essential No previous laboratory experience required

Training & Development

You will complete a:

Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship

Developing skills in:

Analytical Testing Sample Preparation Laboratory Quality Systems Scientific Data Recording Health & Safety Laboratory Equipment Operation

Career Progression:

Successful apprentices may progress into roles such as: Chemical Laboratory Technician Analytical Scientist Environmental Laboratory Technician Quality Control Technician Laboratory Analyst Higher Scientific Apprenticeships

Laboratory Technician Level 3.



Training Outcome:

Because of the technical experience you will gain from working in a laboratory, you will gain skills which many graduates have yet to develop. If you have practical ability, ability to solve problems and good communication skills there are opportunities for progression towards higher qualifications.
