Apprentice Mechanic - Fareham
As an Apprentice Fleet Technician, you will join the Council’s Streetscene Transport Repair Unit, supporting the maintenance and repair of a wide range of fleet vehicles, including Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), light vehicles, and specialist equipment.
You will work as part of a skilled team, gaining hands-on experience while studying towards a Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Service & Maintenance (Heavy).
Your role will involve learning how to ensure vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and compliant with UK legislation, while developing technical skills across a variety of vehicle systems.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting with safety inspections on HGVs, light vehicles, trailers, and plant equipment Supporting servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and defect rectification on fleet vehicles Helping prepare vehicles for MOT to meet legislative standards Learning to use diagnostic equipment to identify faults across vehicle systems Assisting with specialist repairs including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and braking systems Completing records and updating fleet management systems for compliance Working in line with Health & Safety and Council procedures at all timesTraining:
