Apprentice Site Engineer

This small group maintains and develops a range of systems and machinery, from large scale boilers working on a variety of fuels, to a process control computer that controls climatic conditions on the site, to everything in between.

From electronics to mechanical systems, this very much is a multi-skilled role where adaptability is key to move between different systems.

The site is large, covering over 40 acres and offers the opportunity to learn on the job by getting hands-on experience from colleagues, some of whom have been with us over 30 years.

An average week will involve a range of tasks.

Working through our PPM schedule – planted preventative maintenance – this could be changing seals in a pump to testing and calibrating an electronic part of a crop drying system.

Dealing with breakdowns – despite good maintenance, systems fail, so problems need identifying, a solution, finding and ultimately the problem being resolved.

As the site grows and expands and technology changes, there is often a need for new plant and equipment.

Specialist suppliers may need help installing or commissioning.

No two weeks are likely to be the same with a broad range of plant and equipment to work on.

This is a hands-on, physically demanding role that will involve manual work.

With our large site and range of boiler plant, conditions can be hot and dirty, a can-do attitude is essential.

A strong commitment to health and safety is vital.

Interest in mechanics, problem-solving and practical work is important.
